Barrington: The Global PA Report 2012

Yet another Barrington report on fund accounting systems ("Portfolio Accounting"is the preferred term there and explicitly used as a synonym). With Germany and Switzerland (2 out of 10 named countries that should cover the entire planet) one would expect that the systems with a significant footprint in German speaking countries would be included. However, I wasn't able to find neither Profidata nor Diamos (MultiFonds, SimCorp and Sungard are included). The majority of the systems seem to be from North America.

Interestingly, vendors like Murex (MX 3), Temenos (WealthManager) and Thomson Reuters (Portia) are included.

Nevertheless an extensive report and a must-have for anyone in the business.

Report on Order Management Systems

This report by CAPIS (Capital Institutional Services), done in 2007, shows a nice overview of funtionalities of Order Management Systems, as well as an overview of them with a detail fact sheet per system.

The report covers systems that have a rather big footprint in the USA and is far from being complete, but the information listed per system is superb although more or less taken from the vendors fact sheets (for most of the given information).

The functionalities being expected in an order management system (from CAPIS' point of view):

• Portfolio Management (normally not an integral part of an OMS but a system group of its own)
  
• Compliance
• Trading
• Fix (considered to be a separate functionality group, in my opinion a general order routing functionality)
• Allocation

CBP Luxembourg Selects Thomson eXimius As Private Client Wealth Management Solution

This is the first deal for Thomson's wealth management product eXimius in the central European markets that I have heard of ever since eXimius was acquired.

Most interesting in this press release was the mentioning of the selection process that must have been a rather big one. I wonder how eXimius won against systems like Odyssey's TripleA or Expersoft's PM1. Seems that Thomson has beefed up heavily eXimius' funtionality.

Thomson acquires eXimius

Thomson continues its acquisition tour with eXimius, a Belgian front-end and mid-office wealth management software product that combines portfolio management and customer relationship management.

However, I believe this won't have any impact on the German market at all, since eXimius' footprint here was very small. This is likely to change with Thomsons financial marketing power...
